New Jersey-based green coffee importer Agora Coffee Merchants has reached a sales and marketing deal with Brazilian producer organization Ipanema Coffees.
According to Agora, which is based in Red Bank with warehouse offerings on both United States coasts, the company will become the exclusive sales and marketing agency for Ipanema Coffees in the North American market.
The financial terms of the deal were not made public.
Founded in 1969, Ipanema has maintained a steady supply of both conventional and specialty coffees to international markets, expanding since its inception to three main farms — Conquista, Rio Verde and Capoeirinha — that cover some 5,700 hectares combined.
A founding member of the Brazil Specialty Coffee Association, Minas Garais-based Ipanema continues to offer a broad range of coffee varieties and classic processing methods (natural, pulpled natural and fully washed), while in recent years pushing the envelope of microlot development for high-end specialty coffees.
“This is just the beginning of a very promising partnership between Ipanema Coffees and Agora Coffee Merchants,” Ipanema Coffees CEO Christiano Borges said in an announcement of the sales and marketing deal.
